Few teams' struggles, outside the Philadelphia Eagles, have been documented quite as much as those by the New York Jets and Washington Redskins. Though the Jets are at 6-5 and just a game back of the Cincinnati Bengals for the final AFC wild card spot, criticism of their failures — notably dropping three straight games in the early season and allowing Tim Tebow to lead a game-winning drive in Week 11 — has been sharp, though they've invited it with their annual preseason championship boasts.
The Redskins, on the other hand, started strong at 3-1, yet an ongoing quarterback controversy and a rabid fan base and media coverage have made their fall from grace — losing six straight games before finally winning last week against the Seahawks to push their record to 4-7 — far more public than, say, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They've looked better since re-inserting Rex Grossman into the lineup, but against the Jets' defense, how Grossman holds up will determine their fate.
