The Jets made enough big plays at the end of the game to pick up a much-needed win on the road against the Redskins.
After the Jets and Redskins struggled together for 55 minutes, New York made several key plays in the final five minutes to leave Landover, Md. with a big 34-19 win.
Mark Sanchez threw his first touchdown pass of the afternoon with less than five minutes to go in Sunday's contest vs. the Redskins. Good timing: the 30-yard strike to Santonio Holmes was the spark that blew open the game.
Here's video of that catch:
The Redskins had a chance to re-take the lead on the ensuing possession, but Aaron Maybin strip-sacked Rex Grossman and Calvin Pace recovered the football on the Redskins 9-yard line. That lead to a touchdown run from Shonn Greene that all but sealed the win.
It was the fourth time this season that New York has come back to win a game in which it trailed in the fourth quarter.
New York improves to 7-5 with the win, and remains in the hunt for a spot in the AFC playoffs. The Redskins fall to 4-8, all but ending their postseason chances.
