The San Francisco 49ers will likely have to finish a game against the St. Louis Rams without their top defensive player, linebacker Patrick Willis. Willis left the game with what looks to be an injured right hamstring. He injured his leg trying to tackle Rams fullback Brit Miller on an 18-yard run. His return to the game is doubtful, according to Comcast Sports Network.
Willis was being tended to by the team’s training staff on the sidelines after being helped off the field in obvious pain. Willis has not missed a game this season, and only missed one last year.
While San Francisco can probably handle the Rams without the help of Willis, they will no doubt be keeping a close eye on him as they march toward the playoffs.
Willis is a four-time Pro Bowl player, and could be again this season. His 71 tackles are second on the team.
