At halftime during Sunday's matchup between the New Orleans Saints against the Detroit Lions, the Sunday Night Football team at NBC decided to drop a major bombshell. In a world premiere exclusive announcement, Bob Costas introduced a video package hyping the halftime performer at Super Bowl XLVI. The past ten years have featured a slew of top-notch musical performers, and this year is no different.
Yes, the performer at this season's Super Bowl will be none other than the pop icon Madonna. She follows the Black Eyed Peas, who headlined last year's halftime show, as the artist with top-billing at the Super Bowl.
The real news for us here at SB Nation is that we already announced this news. In early October, we broke the news about Madonna performing at the halftime show in an exclusive report.
The Super Bowl and its halftime show will be televised live on NBC on February 5th, 2012. Stay tuned to SB Nation for more on the Super Bowl and the rest of your sports needs.
