The Chicago Bears received a little bit of good news about running back Matt Forte. An MRI confirmed that he has a grade 2 MCL sprain and no damage to his ACL, according to Adam Schefter at ESPN. Forte left in the first quarter of the Bears' loss to the Kansas City Chiefs yesterday. At the time, it was reported that he sprained his MCL, but this is the first confirmation of that report.
Tearing his ACL would have ended Forte's season, another devastating blow for the Bears who lost quarterback Jay Cutler last month. As it stands, Forte will miss some time with his sprained MCL. Forte could be out of action anywhere from two to four weeks.
With Forte out, the Bears will turn to Marion Barber and Kahlil Bell. Those two combined for 78 rushing yards on 18 carries in relief of Forte yesterday.
