The Buffalo Bills and the San Diego Chargers are both 5-7, yet it is the Chargers who are the heavy favorites in Week 14. The Bills are looking to snap a five-game losing streak.
The Buffalo Bills and the San Diego Chargers have followed similar paths on their way to 5-7 records, both kicking the season off 4-1 before hitting their losing schneids. The Chargers have the benefit of coming off a dominant win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last week, however, as well having what on paper is a more talented team. As a result they are 9-point favorites in Week 14, as well as the overwhelming choice to win among the internet's top experts.
Starting with SI's Peter King, who pronounced the Chargers on their way to a late season revival. That is, if they can overcome a tough schedule.
Philip Rivers, reborn. Chargers playoff hopes, reborn. But for San Diego to have a prayer of making up two games in the last four weeks, a couple of things are going to have to happen. One: The Chargers will have to survive a rougher slate (Buffalo, Baltimore, at Detroit, at Oakland) than Oakland or Denver has. Two: Norv Turner's got to find a Tim Tebow voodoo doll.
Panelists at ESPN, Yahoo! Sports and CBS Sports like the Chargers across the board, with 19 out of 19 experts across all three sites taking the Bolts over the Bills. Pete Prisco sees the Chargers' passing game being too much for Buffalo.
The Chargers looked good beating up the Jaguars Monday night. With both Malcom Floyd and Vincent Jackson on the field, they can be explosive again. That will play out here against a Buffalo defense that is struggling. San Diego wins consecutive games.
Only SB Nation's Andrew Sharp seems to go against the grain, taking a "keep it simple stupid" stance when it comes to predicting the outcome of any Chargers game.
When in doubt, remember which team is coached by Norv Turner, and then pick against that team.
