The controversial new NFL kickoff rule, part of a batch of new rules released today, has the league's star kick return men displeased. Devin Hester tweets his disapproval:
I see the NFL is trying to take the kickoff game out. They already punt out of bounds. What's next?less than a minute ago via Echofon

Pro Bowl special teamer Eric Weems and entire Cleveland Browns offense Josh Cribbs have also taken issue via Twitter, but Seahawks return ace Leon Washington sees this closed door as an open window through which to stunt:
Yeah I See the Tryn 2 Hate on Ya Boy, Don't Worry I got Something For Em'. 109 Td Leegooless than a minute ago via Echofon

Agree with Hester
The entire rule change package shouldn’t have ever been approved by the NFL.

Agreed
Ya it was really an incredibly stupid change. Seems like their intent was to completely remove the kickoff from the game rather than safety. Why not just start every possession at the 20 and skip the kickoff altogether? Well, they can’t do that because they would lose a television break of revenue. I really believe that this rule will be changed again at some point after the touchback ratio jumps up to 50% this season. Every kicker worth being on a roster is going to be able to drive the ball through the end zone now. At least they didn’t move the touchback to the 25 though which would completely remove any motivation to even try and run it out from 7 yards deep.
