We're careful not to get out hopes up when talking about the chances of an NFL lockout because, at this point, all evidence points to a work stoppage. That said, Jason La Canfora of NFL Network just sent out an interesting tweet as the NFL owners and players meet with a federal mediator:
NFL prepared to reveal more financial data during today's mediation, I'm told. Sides remain inside the FMCS with the mediator.
What does that mean? Frankly, we have no idea. But stepping out onto the lines of speculation, it's possible this is a step in the right direction to build some momentum to getting a deal done. As we've said, a deal won't get done by midnight so the best case scenario is to hope for an extension.
Almost every reporter involved in this expects a lockout and/or decertification news to hit -- not an extension announcement.
