The long awaited arrival of EA's Madden '12 video game will be even longer. On Wednesday, EA announced that the Madden '12 release date would be pushed back from Aug. 9 to Aug. 30. EA's Rob Semsey wrote via Twitter that the release date allows them to "align closer to the start of the NFL season."
The reality has to be to allow for a little more wiggle room should the NFL and NFLPA come to an agreement to end the NFL lockout.
If the lockout ended sometime this summer, and free agency came along, there would be a number of NFL players switching teams so the later release date likely allows EA some time to prepare for that scenario. I suppose it's also possible it gives them time for other changes that could come with the lockout, like increased roster sizes.
Hopefully we're cheering on the arrival of Madden '12 along with the start of the football season.
