As defending Super Bowl champions the Green Bay Packers will be hosting a game on Thursday, Sept. 8 before the rest of the 2011 NFL regular season schedule starts that next Sunday. It's the first regular season game of the year so there's a lot of anticipation for it.
Who will the Packers host on that day? The NFL schedule will be released at 7:00 p.m. (ET) on Tuesday night but we can take a guess.
Here are the Packers 2011 home opponents: Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, Oakland Raiders, St. Louis Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
To me, there are two obvious candidates: Bears and Saints. Those are two 2010 playoff teams and I think you could make a case for either of them on Thursday night. Of those two, I'd pick the Bears. They played in the playoffs last year and it's an old-school rivalry.
The official announcement of the 2011 NFL regular season schedule is still a few more hours away.
