New York Jets Staying Home For Training Camp Due To NFL Lockout

Earlier this week the Baltimore Ravens announced they would not be going on the road to Westminster for training camp opting instead to stay at home due to the uncertainty of the NFL lockout. Now the New York Jets are joining suit  by announcing that they too will stay at home for training camp.

"With all the variables presented by this unique offseason, we felt it was best for the Jets that we hold our training camp here at our practice facility," general manager Mike Tannenbaum said in a statement. "This was not an easy decision, but it's one we felt we needed to make in order to give us the best chance to win."

The Jets will stay at home in Florham Park, NJ instead of their usual trip to SUNY-Cortland.

The Jets realized that moving the team to training camp takes several weeks and, with the second half of July likely taken up by free agency if a new labor deal gets done, staying home was the easiest option for them.

"We are disappointed, but we understand why the Jets management made this decision, and we're looking forward to hosting the team next year," SUNY Cortland president Erik Bitterbaum said. "Our partnership remains strong, and we will continue to support the team as enthusiastic Jets fans."

That's now two teams this week that have decided to move training camp back home. If the NFL lockout isn't decided within several weeks, we'll see more and more teams following suit.
