The CBS announcing crew for the NFL took a hit last month when it was announced Gus Johnson was leaving the network to work for FOX. Just a few weeks after that announcement, CBS has now added a big name to their broadcasts -- Marv Albert.
The 'Voice of Basketball' will still work NBA games but now adds the NFL on CBS to his stable of jobs.
Albert is best known for his work in basketball but has called NFL games in the past, including Monday Night Football on Westwood One Radio and six total Super Bowls.
Sean McManus, Chairman of CBS Sports, issued this statment announcing his hiring:
"Marv Albert is recognized throughout sports broadcasting as one of its true legends. Very few in the broadcasting industry can claim his combined accomplishments and remarkable longevity. We are extremely excited to add Marv to our NFL on CBS team."
So which one would you prefer calling your team's game -- Gus or Marv?
