Did you hear the rumor about Plaxico Burress joining the Eagles? Yes? No? It really doesn't matter, because it appears that Philadelphia is not terribly interested in the recently-freed wide receiver.
Of course, management can change its mind between now and the beginning of the 2011 season. Or 2012 season. or whenever they start playing football again.
The age concerns are probably not exaggerated here. There are plenty of examples of how quickly older receivers can fall off, even when they haven't spent time in jail. Also, Burress would be by far the oldest wide receiver on the Eagles roster. The next-oldest would be Jason Avant, who's five years younger than Plax.
Still, the number of years that has to concern the Eagles or other teams that would consider Burress still has to be "three." Assuming there's a 2011 season, it will have been almost three years since Burress has taken a snap in professional football. You've got to think that's part of Philadelphia's calculation here.
