Free agent wide receiver Plaxico Burress lists the Bears as one of his "top three" preferred teams, he said in an interview with ESPN 1000 in Chicago.
"Oh without question, without a doubt (the Bears are among his top three choices)," Burress said on "The Carmen, Jurko & Harry Show" on ESPN 1000. "My decision making is going to come down to what I said, playing with an elite quarterback, playing with a running game, playing with a great tight end, and Greg Olsen is already that guy, in my estimation he'll be a Pro Bowler this season.
"That's the same situation I went into when I made my decision to go to New York (to play with the Giants), and it's a pretty similar situation."
Burress has also expressed interest in playing with the Jets, Texans and Eagles, so teams on the West Coast can likely look forward to an interview where he says he'd love to play with them in the near future.
In all seriousness, this is sound career planning from Burress. He last played football in 2008 before serving two years for accidentally shooting himself in the leg with an unlicensed handgun, and he'll be 34 by the time the season starts, whenever that is.
He's really not in a position to be playing favorites, but it would behoove him to make every team feel as if he is.
