Kris Jenkins' Retirement Is Official: 'My Body Deserves The Rest'

Kris Jenkins is officially done in the NFL.

The former New York Jets DT confirmed reports and announced his retirement on his Facebook page on Wednesday afternoon.

Wanted to let you all know that I have loved the support and respect that you all have given me throughout my career. But it is time for the torch to be passed to the younger players. I am going to hang up the cleats! The mind is always willing to play but my body deserves the rest. Thank you for the opportunites to play Carolina and New York.

It's interesting that he notes that his "body deserves the rest" because Jenkins has been suffering from a couple of knee injuries in recent years. Jenkins tore his ACL for the second time in as many years last season and plenty of folks assumed he was done. Wednesday's announcement confirms that.

Jenkins will be remembered as a great player -- when he was healthy, which didn't happen often enough.
