Matt Hasselbeck To Tennessee Titans On Multi-Year Contract, According To Report

As many speculated throughout the offseason, QB Matt Hasselbeck wil be in Tennessee. The former Seahawks QB was reported to be on his way out of Seattle after the Seahawks landed QB Tarvaris Jackson on Tuesday.

Shortly after that, Hasselbeck agreed to a multi-year deal with the Titans, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports, ending his 10-year run with the Seahawks.

This is the move a lot of people expected because of Hasselbeck's strong connection to Titans offensive coordinator Chris Palmer. Tennessee drafted QB Jake Locker with the eighth overall pick last year so he's clearly the future but Hasselbeck can be the bridge between the 2011 season and whenever Locker is ready.

It'll be curious to how much the contract is worth. Michael Lombardi of NFL Network reported that the Titans were prepared to give Hasselbeck a huge contract despite the presence of Locker, who will ideally be playing in a couple of years.

So Hasselbeck steps in and will immediately start for the Titans. He only has three weeks of training camp, and four preseason games, to prepare for his career in Tennessee.

Hasselbeck's deal will become official on Friday night when players are allowed to sign contracts.
