Santonio Holmes Will Re-Sign With Jets, According To Report
The New York Jets will be bringing back one of their best big-play threats: Santonio Holmes has reportedly agreed to terms with the Jets, according to the New York Daily News' Manish Mehta.
Holmes' deal is for five years and $50 million with $24 million guaranteed, according to ESPN New York's Rich Cimini and ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Holmes became a Jet in the 2010 offseason when New York acquired him from the Pittsburgh Steelers for a draft pick, hoping to add another deep threat to an offense that often lacked explosiveness in 2009. That trade paid off, as Holmes remained one of the NFL's most reliably spectacular players, catching 52 passes for 746 yards in just 12 games and scoring six touchdowns.
He was second to Braylon Edwards on the team in all three categories, but Edwards played four more games in 2010. Now, with Edwards likely on the way out of New York, Holmes should see both his role and his numbers grow.
