Chad Ochocinco, Donovan McNabb Secure Familiar Jersey Numbers In Different Ways

Chad Ochocinco's trade to the New England Patriots earlier this week came with a burning question: would the wide receiver get to keep the No. 85 he's made so famous? Tight end Aaron Hernandez apparently acquiesced without a fight:

Chad Ochocinco confirms he didn't have to pay anything for No. 85. Was given to him by Aaron Hernandez as a welcome.

Booooo, Aaron Hernandez. Did you learn nothing of capitalism at Florida? Are you not aware that America is facing a debt ceiling crisis that can only be fixed by players profiting off the transfer of jersey numbers?*

At least Chris Kluwe got something from Donovan McNabb.

The gregarious Vikings punter — who originally asked for promotion for his band to give up No. 5 — got that, a donation to charity, and an ice cream cone from McNabb instead, in a delightful exchange involving a contract written on the white board in the Vikings' locker room.

Finally, Vince Young has gone from wearing No. 10 with the Titans to No. 9 with the Eagles. He's paying tribute to his mentor and hero, Steve McNair (whose No. 9 he couldn't wear in Tennessee, for obvious reasons), and he told reporters he's ready to win a national championship before correcting his mistake. Never change, Vince Young.
