Oakland Raiders, Kamerion Wimbley Agree To Deal, Potentially Freeing Cap Space For Zach Miller

Defensive end Kamerion Wimbley no longer has the franchise tag for the Oakland Raiders, who have agreed to terms on a new deal for five years and $48 million, of which $29 million is guaranteed.

Wimbley had nine sacks for the Raiders last year after coming over in a trade with the Cleveland Browns.

The key to this deal is that it frees cap space for the Raiders, who need the extra funds to re-sign tight end Zach Miller and running back Michael Bush. In fact, the move might have been triggered by Miller's visit to the Seattle Seahawks on Monday. Seattle offensive line coach Tom Cable used to be Miller's head coach in Oakland. It had looked like Miller was likely to re-sign in Oakland, but that appears to be in doubt now. Then again, Miller might just be showing the Raiders he's waited long enough.
