Colt McCoy and Peyton Hillis are scheduled to lead the Cleveland Browns against the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers in week one of the 2011 preseason schedule Saturday night. For the Browns, it will be head coach Pat Shurmur's first chance to prove to fans in Northern Ohio that he's going to try to take the team in a different direction (up). This will also be McCoy's first preseason as the starting quarterback -- last season Jake Delhomme was on the top of the depth chart at this time. Also, now that Hillis was surprisingly named to grace the cover of Madden '11, the Madden curse injury watch will officially start on Saturday.
For the defending Super Bowl champion Packers, a potential position battle lies at running back. Ryan Grant will be returning to the Packers backfield for the first time since he suffered a season-ending ankle injury in the 2010 opener against the Philadelphia Eagles and he's going to have to defend his starting job against James Starks, the second-year back out of the University of Buffalo that helped the Packers through the playoffs, eventually besting the Steelers in Super Bowl XLV. Tight end Jermichael Finley will also be returning to the Packers starting lineup after missing the last 13 games of the 2010 season after suffering a season-ending knee injury.
The Packers are 2.5-point favorites -- surprise! -- in Saturday's game against the Browns.
