Cleveland Browns punter Reggie Hodges will miss the 2011 NFL season with a torn Achilles tendon.
The Cleveland Browns suddenly find themselves in the market for a punter in light of Tuesday's news that Reggie Hodges will miss the 2011 NFL season with a torn Achilles tendon.
Hodges kept plenty busy last season, punting 78 times for a struggling Browns offense. His 43.9 yards per punt was a career high, though it put him firmly in the middle of the pack NFL-wise. It'll be tough for any replacement to replicate the intangibles that Hodges brings. Namely, the ability to run 70 yards on uncleverly designed fake punts.
No date has been schedule for surgery. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery, and maybe a foot race with Brian Moorman sometime in the near future.
