You figured they were coming. As soon as word got out at the Denver Broncos has named Kyle Orton the starter for their season opener, you knew that Tim Tebow trade rumors would rear their ugly head.
Word that the Broncos might either trade Tebow or even just flat-out cut him are starting to make its way around, but very few experts are buying it.
ESPN’s Chris Mortensen isn’t buying it. He reported earlier tonight on Monday Night Countdown that the Broncos recently gave Tebow a check for $6.7 million, part of the guaranteed money in his first-round rookie deal. Said Mort of Tebow, "They’re not about to trade him, they’re not about to release him."
Broncos blog Mile High Report says, as hard as it might be, patience is required when it comes to Tebow.
Listen, I get it, people simply cannot fathom the Broncos could take the patient approach with Tebow and tuck him away for all of 2011, only to see him resurface as a more polished version of himself instead of offering him up to the media for interviews and allowing every snap he takes from center to get over-analyzed by guys like Merrile Hoge. How does that help Tim Tebow?
The time has come for patience - from the Broncos, from Tebow, himself, from the fans and from the media who rely on Tebow snippets to drive traffic and get people to buy newspapers. It's time for Tebow to take a step back in 2011 in order to take 3 steps forward in 2012. It's the best for him right now.

The Denver Broncos have their Week 1 starting quarterback and his name is not Tim Tebow. According to the Denver Post, head coach John Fox has named Kyle Orton his starting quarterback for the first week of the season.
This isn't much of a surprise. Orton is clearly the best option and the Broncos have likely known that for a while. But because Tebow's name was involved, this situation got a lot of attention.
So Orton starts Week 1 for the Broncos and, if my prediction, remains the starter all season. He's receiving over $8 million in the 2011 season so, after they decided to hang onto him after trade rumors started up with the Miami Dolphins, naming him the starter was the most likely option.
In addition to Orton's salary, he's also been working with the first team throughout camp which is another reason this shouldn't be a surprise.
Tebow now battles Brady Quinn for the backup job and it's been reported that Quinn is leading that battle.

Tim Tebow Saga Takes Inevitable Next Step, 'All Else Equal, Tebow Would Be 4th-String QB'
by Sean Keeley
You know that Tim Tebow, anointed savior of the Denver Broncos, is currently sitting third on the quarterback depth chart behind starter Kyle Orton and second-stringer Brady Quinn. You've also heard the (seemingly unfounded) rumors emerge that the Broncos are considering trading or flat-out cutting their 2010 first-round draft pick. The sky is officially falling on Tebow and anyone else who cares to throw gasoline on this fire, should probably do so right now.
