Panthers vs. Bengals: Cam Newton Rushing Touchdown Gives Carolina Early Lead

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton absolutely tattooed (see what I did?) Cincinnati Bengals DB Jonathan Wade on his way to the endzone during a 16-yard touchdown run that put his team up 7-0 in the first quarter of their preseason game Thursday night.

On 3rd and 11, Newton took off up the middle and showed off that athleticism and skill that made him the No. 1 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Newton is 1-of-4 for 9 passing yards so far in the game, so it's a good thing he's got those legs to bail him out from time to time. That one completion was to Steve Smith.

On the other side of the ball, Bengals' QB Andy Dalton is off to a good start. He's 3-of-4 for 53 yards. Meanwhile, Cedric Benson has 46 yards rushing on 9 carries.
