The Kansas City Chiefs attempted to make a game of things against the St. Louis Rams in the second half of their Friday preseason game, but they walked off the field with a 14-10 loss. With five minutes left in the game, Tyler Palko took the Chiefs from their own 42-yard line and brought them to within three yards of the Rams' end zone. However, he came up short on a pass to Jeremy Horne. Ryan Succop then had a 21-yard field goal attempt blocked.
Palko and Ricky Stanzi alternated at quarterback, both having similar games. Stanzi, though, stood out by directing the Chiefs to their only touchdown of the night, a 32-yard pass to Cody Slate in the third quarter.
The Rams' first-team offense looked sharp by dominating the first quarter in time of possession. Quarterback Sam Bradford led the Rams to two touchdowns over 13 minutes of possession. Running back Steven Jackson was running in all gears, picking up 72 yards on 15 carries. His longest run was a 25-yarder on the first play from scrimmage.
The Rams (3-0) close out the preseason with a road game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Chiefs (0-3) head to Lambeau Field to face the Green Bay Packers.
