The Atlanta Falcons (0-2) stay on the road for their third preseason game. After a close 15-13 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Falcons stay in the AFC and play the Pittsburgh Steelers. As usually happens this time of the year, Falcons starters will until halftime and possibly even into the third quarter. Starters did play the first half of last week's games against the Jaguars.
As SB Nation Atlanta points out, free agent acquisition Ray Edwards might play in this game, as the team listed him as the starting left defensive end. Edwards signed a five-year, $30 million contract with the Falcons and later revealed that he had minor knee surgery during the offseason. If he does play, Edwards and John Abraham form one of the top defensive end pairings in league.
The Steelers (1-1) are coming off a 24-14 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. Ben Roethlisberger was 8-of-12 for 125 yards and two touchdowns. Free agent addition Jerricho Cotchery came up with two catches for 49 yards and one touchdown.
Linebacker Lawrence Timmons signed a five-year, $60 million contract extension earlier in the week to keep him paired with LaMarr Woodley. Behind the Steel Curtain believes Timmons may be the most underrated defensive player in the game, but that may not last for long.
