Eagles DT Mike Patterson collapsed on the practice field Wednesday morning and was taken away in an ambulance.
There was a scary situation in Philadelphia Eagles training camp practice on Wednesday morning. Eagles DT Mike Patterson apparently "hit the ground hard in lineman drills and is shaking on the ground", according to Geoff Mosher of the News Journal of Wilmington.
Jeff McLane of the Philly Inquirer tweeted that it appeared he went into convulsions.
The Eagles training staff gathered around him while other players got on their knees holding hands. Some players were visibly upset, according to McLane. Danny Watkins, a rookie and a former fireman, was "really taking control" of the situation before the ambulance arrived.
The Philly reporters say Patterson had movement in his extremities as he was loaded onto a gurney and taken away in an ambulance.
We're not sure of any details at the moment and what caused it. It has been very hot around the country this time of year and the National Weather Service reports it was about 78 degrees at LeHigh University around the time this happened.
Stay tuned to Bleeding Green Nation where we hope to hear good news on Patterson.
