Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Brandon Carr signs his restricted free agent tender
Kansas City Chiefs restricted free agent cornerback Brandon Carr has signed his one-year tender, the club announced on Thursday.
A fifth-round pick out of Grand Valley State in 2008, Carr has started all 48 of his regular season games with the Chiefs, totaling 207 tackles, four interceptions and 47 passes defensed. The Chiefs tendered Carr at the "First Round" level, which carries a base salary of $2.611 million in 2011.
Carr's three-year rookie contract was worth $1.295 million.
In addition to getting one of their two starting cornerbacks in the fold for 2011, the Chiefs also announced that they have signed veteran safety Sabby Piscitelli.
The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Piscitelli was a 2007 second-round pick out of Oregon State by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After spending most of his rookie season on injured reserve, Piscitelli posted 148 tackles and five interceptions in 41 games from 2008 through 2010. The Buccaneers placed the safety on waivers last last season, where he was claimed by the Cleveland Browns.
Piscitelli appeared in five games with the Browns, totaling three tackles while primarily playing on special teams.
