The Oakland Raiders lost TE Zach Miller to the Seattle Seahawks in the 2011 NFL free agency period but they've found his replacement. Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Raiders agreed to terms on a four-year deal with TE Kevin Boss. The total value is reportedly $16 million.
The Raiders have had cap issues and need to get below the salary cap by Friday afternoon so this deal may be an indicator that they're going to be able to do that.
Boss comes from the New York Giants who made him their fifth round pick in the 2007 NFL draft. Boss has been consistent in his last three years catching between 33 and 42 passes and over 500 receiving yards in each of the last two seasons.
In terms of talent, going from MIller to Boss is a downgrade but the Raiders do get Boss at a cheaper rate than Miller's contract with the Seahawks.
