Redskins still looking for one of their quarterbacks to emerge as the starter as they enter final preseason game.
With one game left to play in preseason, the Washington Redskins are still unsure who their starting quarterback is going to be this season. Neither John Beck nor Rex Grossman have separated themselves, meaning the final preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be the deciding factor.
Neither player has what you'd call a sterling NFL resume, with Beck last starting a game in 2007 when he was a rookie with the Miami Dolphins and Grossman's last full season as a starter coming back in 2006 with the Chicago Bears.
Both quarterbacks had decent games last week against the Baltimore Ravens. Grossman threw for 112 yards and a touchdown, while completing 8 of 15 passes. Beck completed 6 of 10, tossed a touchdown and threw for 108 yards, but also threw an interception.
The Bucs are still looking for a backup running back to emerge from the pack. After choosing not to re-sign Cadillac Williams in the offseason, they have gotten underwhelming performances from four different players competing to spell LaGarrette Blount. Kregg Lumpkin has, so far, been the best of the group, rushing for 40 yards on 11 carries.
