Expect more rust than usual in this Week 1 matchup: the Jaguars and Titans each have key players returning from injury or holdouts.
Luke McCown takes the reins of Jacksonville's offense after the team's stunning decision to release David Garrard just days before the start of the season. McCown, who's made just seven career starts in seven years in the league, appeared in only one game last season, missing virtually the entire year after tearing his ACL last September.
McCown will be thrown into the fire on Sunday, though, especially considering Maurice Jones-Drew is also being eased into action. Jones-Drew, who underwent knee surgery in January, missed the first three preseason games and carried the ball just five times in the fourth. Don't be surprised if Deji Karim, or even Montell Owens, sees action.
Much like the Jaguars, the Titans are also dealing with a rusty backfield: Chris Johnson famously missed all of training camp and the entire exhibition season with a contract holdout, agreeing to a new deal just last week. Tennessee's coaching staff has refused to put a predetermined limit on Johnson's carries, but the smart money is on him touting the rock fewer than 20 times.
It'll be interesting to see how long it takes new quarterback Matt Hasselbeck to develop chemistry with Kenny Britt, who played in only one preseason game due to a hamstring injury and finished without a single catch.
