Citing several unnamed sources, New Orleans CBS affiliate WWL-TV reported that Randy Moss was spotted at the Saints ’ training facility on Saturday. Considering Marques Colston will likely be sidelined for a month with a broken collarbone, it’s not a stretch to imagine the team might be interested in signing the retired wide receiver.
Unfortunately, there’s a catch: Randy Moss’ agent denies have any knowledge of his client visiting the team, let alone being a candidate to join the roster. And in no uncertain terms, Saints GM Mickey Loomis also shot down the report:
"Absolutely no truth to it," he told ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who relayed the information via Twitter. "It’s a made-up story. Zero to it."
Would the Saints be more dangerous with Moss on the roster? Of course. But he comes along with quite a bit of baggage. And for a team already featuring the likes of Devery Henderson and Robert Meachem (not to mention Lance Moore, once he returns from his groin injury), the Saints simply don’t need to make such a drastic move to fill a short-term hole.
