The New York Giants will leave defensive end Justin Tuck on the sidelines after all today. Tuck is among the Giants’ inactive players for their season opener against the Washington Redskins.
That news is a complete turnaround from reports this morning that said Tuck would play today in a limited capacity. He made the trip to Washington with Giants, leading many to speculate that he would suit up for the game.
Tuck is dealing with a neck injury described as something more than just a stinger. His absence leaves the Giants pass rush thin along the defensive line as Osi Umenyiora is also out as he recovers from knee surgery. There is no word as to when Tuck might next be able to play as he continues to deal with this injury.
The Giants and Redskins are scheduled to kick off at 4:15 p.m. Eastern Time.
