After a series of fumbles by both teams on previous drives, the New York Jets' Joe McKnight went straight through the blocking screen and prevented Mat McBriar's punt. Isaiah Trufant picked it up for the 41-yard touchdown return. The game is tied at 24 with less than five minutes left to play.
Earlier, neither Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo nor New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez was fond of holding onto the ball late in this game. The Jets had a prime opportunity to tie this game when they recovered a Tony Romo fumble at their own goal line. On 3rd-and-2, Romo attempted to scramble for touchdown, but he wound up having the ball punched out and recovered by the Jets. Reviews showed that the ball was out before Romo's knee hit the ground.
Mark Sanchez has a promising drive going with a 26-yard pass to Plaxico Burress, providing breathing room for the offense. When they entered Dallas territory on a Dustin Keller 19-yard reception, things were looking good. Then a sack and a fumble returned the ball to Dallas. But that drive turned into the blocked punt.
