St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson will likely not play against the New York Giants when the two teams meet in a Week 2 Monday Night Football game. Head coach Steve Spagnuolo revealed the news in his Monday afternoon press conference.
Jackson strained his right quad on a 47-yard touchdown run in the Rams’ 31-13 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon.
Jackson’s status beyond Week 2 is unclear. He will be on a day-to-day, week-to-week basis following that game. Cadillac Williams will start in place of Jackson.
The Rams will also be without cornerback Ron Bartell (neck) and wide receiver Danny Amendola (elbow). Quarterback Sam Bradford is expected to play despite a bruise in his right index finger. Spagnuolo also said that the Rams will be making several roster moves to account for the losses.
