The Miami Dolphins moved slowly and methodically down the field to open the first Monday Night Football matchup of the year, leaning heavily upon the run and short screen game while bulldozing the New England Patriots defense. Reggie Bush saw plenty of action, with Chad Henne looking like a capable quarterback as the Dolphins drove 84 yards in 12 plays, taking up just under half the quarter. And it was Henne capping the drive by calling his own number for the score.
Henne found the end zone on a nine-yard quarterback draw, gashing the New England defense and taking advantage of a huge hole. Through the first quarter, Henne's been nearly perfect, completing eight of nine passes for 84 yards. Reggie Bush has 16 yards on three carries and four catches for 26 yards.
The Patriots, on the other hand, struck back quickly, moving 78 yards in six plays while taking 3:26 off the clock. The drive was Benjarvis Green-Ellis capped the drive, spinning and twisting for a four-yard touchdown run.
Brady completed his first touchdown pass of the year on the Patriots next drive, finding Rob Gronkowski for the score to put New England on top, 14-0. On the night, Brady is a perfect 8-8 for 127 yards and a touchdown.
