New England Patriots center Dan Koppen, a mainstay on the offensive line, was carted off the field in the second quarter of Monday night's matchup with the Miami Dolphins. Koppen had his leg pinned under a defensive lineman as he was rolled up on, creating a scary situation that left him face down on the turf. He stayed down for several moments before leaving on the injury cart.
While it's unclear what the injury was, Koppen's left leg was bent at an incredibly awkward angle as it was swallowed up in the pile. It was clear Koppen was in serious pain as a result of the injury, though we've heard no word on the extent yet.
With Koppen out, the Patriots defensive line shifts going forward. Dan Connolly takes over in relief of Koppen, manning the center spot that's all-important in the New England offense.
