GLENDALE, AZ - SEPTEMBER 11: Quarterback Cam Newton #1 of the Carolina Panthers throws a pass under pressure from Darnell Dockett #90 of the Arizona Cardinals during the NFL season opening game at the University of Phoenix Stadium on September 11, 2011 in Glendale, Arizona. No player in the NFL made a more dramatic debut in Week 1 than No. 1 overall pick Cam Newton. The Carolina Panthers quarterback threw for 422 yards and two touchdowns, needing just 37 attempts to do it. He also rushed for a touchdown. Even though it wasn't enough to bring the Panthers victory, it was possibly a sign that this might not be such a depressing year in Carolina, after all.
Considering Aaron Rodgers looked like the second-coming of Brett Favre in the Packers' 42-34 win over the Saints in Week 1, this could be a real shootout. Rogers tossed three touchdowns and threw for 312 yards, as the Packers rolled up 399 total yards in the victory.
