It's hard to imagine Donovan McNabb's Minnesota Vikings debut going any worse. The veteran quarterback, for whom the Vikings traded a first-round pick, threw an interception on his first attempt and it didn't get much better after that in the loss to the San Diego Chargers.
McNabb completed just 7 of 15 passes for --- wait for it -- 39 yards in Week 1. It was an absolutely ugly performance, and one the Vikings will be hoping on hope was a mere aberration, as they generated just 187 yards of total offense.
On the other end of the experience spectrum, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman looked just fine a loss to the Detroit Lions. His one-touchdown, one-interception performance was hardly awe-inspiring but he did so the kind of flashes that justify the Bucs' excitement over him. They will need to improve on that run game, though, as Freeman's 26 yards led the team last week.
