A potential preview for the NFC Championship game, the Eagles continue their tour of outdated domes with a trip to Atlanta for a prime time game against the Falcons. MIchael Vick has been back here once before since returning to the NFL, but this time he is front and center for the Eagles.
By now, we should have reached the statute of limitations for hyping Michael Vick facing the Atlanta Falcons, the team that made him the first-overall pick in 2001. After all, the last time Vick wore a Falcons uniform was 2006. However, he missed the Eagles' 31-17 win over the Falcons last year. Vick accounted for two touchdowns against the Falcons in 2009 -- one rushing, one passing -- playing a bit part behind then-Eagles starter Donovan McNabb. Vick brings his Eagles team to the Georgia Dome this week with no mitigating circumstances to put a kink in the plot of his return to face the Falcons.
Matt Ryan has redefined the Falcons since being drafted in 2008. With preseason expectations that included the words "Super Bowl," the Falcons will be looking to erase last week's drubbing by the Bears. Ryan and his top two receivers, Roddy White and rookie Julio Jones, face an intimidating Eagles secondary. Watch for them to lean on Michael Turner after the Eagles allowed 5.9 yards per carry to the Rams last week.
Sometimes the early season primetime games can disappoint; not this time. A potential NFC Championship preview, this game is one of the better draws on the early-season schedule.
