Raiders Vs. Bills: Don't Look Now But Raiders En Route To 2-0 Start

Stay connected with SB Nation

Before the season, Yahoo! Sports' Mike Silver boldly predicted the Oakland Raiders would be in the playoffs this year. Actually, he predicted the AFC Championship game. I laughed about it pretty hard because, well, it's the Raiders.

Well, don't look now but Oakland is en route to a 2-0 start. After slipping past the Denver Broncos last week, the Raiders lead the upstart Buffalo Bills, 21-3, at halftime.

What's more impressive is who the Raiders were missing -- their top four pass catchers. All four of those guys, including WR Darrius Heyward-Bey, were out with injuries. Yet the Raiders run game keeps on chugging putting up 73 yards on 15 carries between RB Darren McFadden and CB Michael Bush.

If the Raiders win this, they'll be 2-0 on the year and legitimate contenders in the AFC West.

Of course, their next two games are against the Jets, Patriots and Texans so the road won't get any easier.
