Michael Vick Injury: No Timetable On Return From Concussion

Stay connected with SB Nation

Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick suffered a concussion in the Sunday Night Football game against the Atlanta Falcons and that's about all we know right now. Trainer Rick Burkholder took the podium and explained that it's not fair to give a timeframe on Vick's return at this point.

"We're going to go through our protocol and when Mike's ready to practice, I will turn him over to coach (Andy Reid) and he will make the decision when he's ready to play. It's 13 hours post-injury. There is a lot that has to happen between now and then. For me to sit up here to guess on time, it's not fair to Michael, it's not fair to coach, it's not fair to the NFL," he said.

For now, QB Mike Kafka is your Eagles quarterback. He relieved Vick in the fourth quarter of the Eagles Sunday night loss to the Falcons.

The NFL has been extra sensitive to concussions, particularly in the last couple of years, so Vick will need to be cleared medically before he returns. It's reasonable to think Vick could return in Week 3 but we just don't know yet.
