Domenik Hixon Injury: Giants WR Headed To Injured Reserve

Stay connected with SB Nation

The hits keep on coming for the New York Giants as the team announces that WR Domenik Hixon will miss the rest of the 2011 season with a torn ACL. This is the second consecutive year he's missed the season with an ACL injury.

Hixon caught a touchdown pass in the Monday Night Football game against the St. Louis Rams and appeared to be hurt when he came down. It was later suggested that he had a calf problem, and not a knee injury, so the news of an ACL tear comes as a bit of a surprise.

This is yet another blow to the Giants, who have started the season 1-1 and have another big game against the Philadelphia Eagles next week. They may also have to go without WR Mario Manningham, who may have a concussion in that game.

Hixon was the team's No. 3 receiver and punt returner. He was expected to have a rising role with the Giants so that he's missing another season is a bad blow for him and the team.

SB Nation's Big Blue View is asking: When will it all end?
