It's pretty clear that odds-makers don't quite know what to make of the San Francisco 49ers and Cincinnati Bengals. Both teams are 1-1 and coming off close losses in Week 2. The Bengals opened as just 1-point favorites, but that has moved anywhere from 2 points to 3 points, depending on where you look. The over/under has stayed pretty steady at 40-40.5 points.
How good any of those bets look probably depends heavily on your opinion of starting quarterbacks Alex Smith and Andy Dalton. Neither has been asked to do a whole lot in their teams' first two games.
Smith has only been asked to throw 44 passes all season and, as a result, has just 303 yards. His 95.2 QB Rating speaks to his relative effectiveness, but it remains to be seen if he has really turned the corner.
Dalton, a rookie out of TCU, has only attempted 56 passes, but has looked good when he drops back. He has thrown three touchdowns and has yet to be intercepted.
