Authorities intercepted a 2.5 pound shipment of marijuana at the home of Bengals receiver Jerome Simpson yesterday. Simpson was at his house at the time along with teammate Anthony Collins. New details emerging from the investigation reveal more trouble for the two, six pounds worth of trouble.
Law enforcement officials found another six pounds of marijuana inside the Kenton County, Kentucky, home, according to a USA Today report citing a spokesperson from the California Department of Justice. The package intercepted yesterday was shipped from Northern California. In addition to the pot, authorities also seized drug and distribution paraphernalia, including “packaging materials, scales and smoking devices.”
Both players are part of the ongoing investigation, but have not been arrested or charged. The Kenton County prosecutor is expected to address the case later today. The Bengals have said that the team is aware of the situation, but has not offered further comment.
The Bengals host the 49ers this Sunday.
