Philip Rivers #17 of the San Diego Chargers looks to the sideline for direction in the first quarter against the New England Patriots. The Chargers play the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, September 25, 2011.
The woeful Chiefs try to get their season back together against the division favorite Chargers
Oh, the poor Kansas City Chiefs. After a couple of embarrassing losses at the hands of the Buffalo Bills and the Detroit Lions, the Chiefs are very much the leaders in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes, which can't make Matt Cassell very happy. With Eric Berry, Tony Moeaki and now Jamaal Charles all out for the season with devastating injuries things probably won't get much better for the Chiefs this year, or this week against the San Diego Chargers.
The Chargers have not looked spectacular thus far and Norv Turner's decision making has been as baffling as ever, but it might not matter. The AFC West is a very week division this season and the Chargers could very easily skate into the playoffs with the fourth seed by finishing just 8-8 or 9-7. They shouldn't have to be at their best to beat the current worst team in the league, but we all know the cliche about any given Sunday.
