It's official: Michael Vick is active for the Philadelphia Eagles Week 3 game agains the New York Giants. Vick suffered a concussion last week and was listed as questionable on the injury report this week. The Eagles inactive list does not include Vick which means he's active and he is expected to start.
Vick was in practice this week working with the first team so he was expected to play this week. If he weren't active, it'd be QB Mike Kafka back there and the dynamics of this game would have changed dramatically.
A topic of conversation early in this game will be Vick's health, and how he hopes to prevent a future concussion.
Sal Paolantonio reported on ESPN that as Vick prepares to play against the Giants, he is having his helmet re-fitted by Unequal Technology, which will use kevlar to disburse the effects of a blow to the head. It's the first time this technology has been used for a football helmet, although it has previously been used for hockey helmets and in the military.
We'll see how Vick's able to play after taking it easy early in the week recovering from the concussion.
