Texans Vs. Saints: Matt Schaub Tearing Up New Orleans Defense

Stay connected with SB Nation

The New Orleans Saints defense has so far continued its early season struggles, surrendering 10 points and 174 yards before the end of the first quarter of Sunday's home game against the Houston Texans. The Saints entered the game allowing 27.5 points.

As they have been for much of the year, the Saints have been especially vulnerable to the pass. Matt Schaub has thrown for 139 yards and a touchdown, and it could very easily be more. Schaub connected with tight end James Casey on a 62 yard pass that nearly went for a touchdown. As it turned out, he was stopped inside the 20 and the Texans ultimately settled for a field goal.

It's also worth noting that the No. 1-ranked Texans defense has done a solid job against one of the league's best offenses. The Saints have been limited to just one first down and 29 yards of total offense.
