Tom Brady has found his favorite receiver early and often in this divisional matchup against the Buffalo Bills today. Wes Welker has five receptions for 91 yards and a touchdown through one quarter of play.
Brady found Welker deep on the Patriots fifth play of the game, Welker’s second reception, for a 33-yard passing play. Brady later found Welker on that same drive for a touchdown pass.
The Patriots got the ball back on the Bills’ 35-yard line after intercepting Ryan Fitzpatrick. On the ensuing drive, Welker caught a 24-yard pass to put his team inside the 10-yard line. Brady would connect with Rob Gronkowski four plays later to give his team a 14-0 lead over Buffalo.
Welker had 81 yards on seven catches last week against San Diego, a game the Patriots won by a final score of 35-21.
