The Tennessee Titans are fearing the worst about star receiver Kenny Britt, who was carted off the field early in Sunday’s game against the Broncos after injuring his right knee. From ESPN’s Adam Schefter:
Titans fear that WR Kenny Britt tore his ACL and MCL. Britt is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday to confirm extent of damage.
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk is reporting similar news, citing "a source with knowledge of the situation" that believes Britt has an injured MCL. If Britt merely injured his MCL without suffering a tear, it’s possible he can avoid surgery. If he injured both ligaments, surgery is likely inevitable. The Titans should learn more early next week after he’s examined again.
The Titans defeated the Broncos without Britt, with Nate Washington stepping up in his teammate’s absence to catch eight balls for 92 yards and a touchdown. One would expect Washington to continue playing an increased role for as long as Britt is sidelined.
