In the fourth quarter of Sunday's matchup between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers, Devin Hester played the role of decoy to perfection. He executed it so well on a punt return that he drew the cameraman and the Packers entire punt coverage to his side of the field as Johnny Knox fielded the punt near the sideline, then bolted with nothing bu daylight in front of him. But there was one problem: A flag on the play and a mysterious holding call.
Video after the jump. Watch Knox at the top of the screen and see if you can find the hold.
I still have no idea where the hold is on the play, and can't find it after watching the video over and over. It was a long-shot the Bears would've come back to win -- they still would've had to recover the onside kick -- but this play should've been an easy top-play. How Hester managed to fool everyone and open a huge lane for Knox is beyond me, but what a sell job.
Instead, it's as though the return didn't happen as it all came back because of the hold. Maybe that's why Joe Buck sounded bored.
